Indiana Tim, GMAT, GRE, and EA Tutor

Not to be confused with “Aussie Tim” Chen, Indiana Tim holds three graduate degrees – an MBA, a JD, and a Master’s in Education – and a 780 on the GMAT, along with 99th-percentile scores on several other standardized exams.

Tim’s career has included stints as a lawyer, managing editor, entrepreneur, and university faculty member, in addition to years of work as a tutor and admissions consultant. He has even designed and taught basketball history and culture courses for high school students.

Since first locking horns with the GMAT as an undergraduate student, Tim has held a soft spot in his heart for the exam. His high scores on the GMAT and other exams are a byproduct of a deep curiosity of standardized testing and an even deeper curiosity about students’ learning process.

During law school, Tim began teaching in his spare time, and he quickly realized how rewarding it is to facilitate “light-bulb moments” for students. (He also realized that teaching is infinitely more fun than hanging out with most lawyers, though there are sometimes exceptions.) That key realization led him to a Master’s degree in Education at Harvard University before he embarked on a delightful experience as an MBA student at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

As his name suggests, Tim is a proud Hoosier, and when he isn’t immersed in the joy of helping students wrestle permutations to the ground, he can often be found on his family farm in rural Indiana with his niece and nephews, all of whom have Tim wrapped tightly around their little fingers. Tim’s passion for basketball runs deep, and when he isn’t spending time with students and relatives, you can often find him on a court somewhere, dazzling onlookers and breaking ankles (usually his own) with shifty attempts at crossover dribbles.
